Duties of Officers and Directors:

President: The duties of the president are:

  • to preside at meetings of the board of directors;

  • to direct the operations of the association in a manner prescribed by the board;

  • to be a member of the executive board

  • to coordinate efforts regarding the annual conference, including, but not limited to:

  1. coordinating with the Kentucky Press Association;

  2. coordinating with the host hotel/location.

Vice-President: The duties of the vice-president are:

  • to assist the president in his/her duties and preside at meetings in the absence of or at the request of the president;

  • to be a member of the executive board;

  • assist with the annual conference, including, but not limited to:

  1. coordinating efforts with vendors and sponsors;

  2. coordinate donations and gifts/prizes from vendors/sponsors.

Secretary: The duties of the secretary are:

  • to provide for a true recording of the proceedings of the meetings of the executive board, and to insure that copies are furnished to members for the board within twenty (20) days following each meeting;

  • to be custodian of association records except those essential to the treasurer;

  • to be a member of the executive board;

  • to insure that the nomination and election process as required by Article VI; Nomination and Election of Officers and Directors, is observed;

  • to make available to all KNPA members a copy of the current by-laws per the KNPA website and/or upon request;

  • to be responsible for preserving the integrity of the by-laws as they are revised by resolution;

  • to assist with the annual conference as needed.

Treasurer: The duties of the treasurer are:

  • to provide a true accounting of the financial status of the association to the board of directors;

  • to keep copies of invoices, receipts, correspondence and records prepared in the performance of duties;

  • to determine the validity of al KNPA transactions;

  • to be custodian of all financial documents as outlined in Article X, Finances;

  • to be a member of the executive board;

  • to assist with the annual conference as needed.

Immediate Past-President; The duties of the immediate past-president are:

  • to assist the new president in making a smooth transition into office;

  • to serve as a member of the executive board, ex-officio, without vote;

  • · to assist with the annual conference as needed.

Directors: The duties of the directors are as follows:

Director, still contest chair

  • maintain still contest rules;

  • collect still contest entries;

  • run still contest during annual seminar;

  • to be a member of the executive board.

Director, still contest speaker/judge chair

  • make all arrangements for annual conference still speaker/judges, including but not limited to: selection, travel, meals

  • to be a member of the executive board.

Director, still membership chair

  • maintain still membership list and work to increase membership;

  • assist with the annual conference as needed;

  • to be a member of the executive board.

Director, TV contest chair

  • maintain TV contest rules;

  • collect TV contest entries;

  • run still contest during annual seminar;

  • to be a member of the executive board.

Director, TV contest speaker/judge chair

  • make all arrangements for annual conference TV speaker/judges, including but not limited to: selection, travel, meals

  • to be a member of the executive board.

Director, TV membership chair

  • maintain TV membership list and work to increase membership;

  • assist with the annual conference as needed;

  • to be a member of the executive board.
